FAQs

What is the Redemption Row?

  • The Redemption Row is an annual fundraiser to raise funding to benefit victims of human trafficking. We have a heart for the many affected women and children out there worldwide and we have the opportunity to use our passion for fitness as a vehicle to serve others. This year we will be partnering with CARE Healing Center in Carroll County, MD.

How does the event work?

  • Starting at 7pm on July 18, all of the participants will start rowing for a 24 hour duration, collectively. Ideally, we want to keep the rower monitors on for the entire duration but it is not required. In order to do so, at least one team member will have to stay on the rower at all times. Some participants will be rowing for 1 hour, while others may be there to row for the entire 24 hours and there are tier options based on the amount of time that you can commit.
  • Everyone obviously will need breaks. It is recommended to coordinate shifts with your team members. That could be 10, 15, or 30 minute shifts, for example. We recommend having a team consisting of 4-12 members, if possible. That range is more practical and fun for most people.

What is CARE Healing Center?

  • The CARE Healing Center is a nonprofit organization founded in 1978 dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence in the Carroll County community through trauma-informed Counseling, Advocacy, Resources and Education. They provide free services for victims such as screening, case management, trauma therapy, support groups, legal services, safety planning and help with basic needs such as clothing and transportation. They also coordinate the county’s Human Anti-Trafficking Response Team (HART) and work closely with law enforcement and other direct service providers to ensure that victims are supported and traffickers are held accountable.

I want to join but I do not have a team. What should I do?

  • On the registration form, there is an option for this. Please fill out all of the required fields and state “Need” in the team name question. From there, fill out the tier/duration that is closest to the time that you can commit and we will coordinate so that you are placed on a team with a similar schedule.

I can’t stay for 24 hours – can I still participate?

  • Yes. We encourage everyone to participate regardless of their schedules. We have tier options based on the amount of time that you can commit (BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM, DIAMOND). There is an option for that on the registration form.

I have to leave in the middle of the event but I would like to return before the finish. Can I do that?

  • Yes, and there will likely be several others doing this. You have the freedom to coordinate that with your team as you see fit. Some may choose to stay for the first 1-4 hours, while some others come for the next 1-4, etc. This can also look like overnight vs. day shifts. Completely up to you and your team.

I can’t participate but I would like to donate to the event. Can I do that?

  • Yes. On the “Register” tab, scroll down to the very bottom and click the “Donate” button. From there, you can specify how much you would like to donate. Please enter “REDEMPTION ROW” in the comment field.
  • If you are interested in donating an item/service for a raffle, please contact email [email protected] for more information.

Can I sponsor a team?

  • Yes. On the registration form, there is an option for those donating towards a team. Please specify the team that you are donating towards and answer all of the required questions. We are working on updating a dashboard that shows how much money is raised per team. Stay tuned!
